Join us in giving watercolor artist Katie White a warm welcome as Palmetto Bluff’s June Artist in Residence! Katie breathes life into her artwork through thoughtful meditation and mindfulness as her brush strokes the page. With a focus on nature and the gentleness found in blank space, many of her works invoke a feeling of peace while other works dazzle with bright and bold colors. In keeping with her inspiration found in nature, Katie will be giving a live demonstration in the FLOW Gallery + Workshop courtyard over light refreshments.

Back to Basics: Watercolor

Indulge in a gentle morning of creativity and relaxation with watercolor artist, Katie White. Katie brings her skills to the table with a non-intimidating approach that reminds us to paint for the process (not just the results) with this beautiful medium. Discover the joy of watercolors in a warm, welcoming, and enjoyable environment.

Meditate into the Medium

Date: Friday, June 21

Join us for an artistic escape and let the day melt away. Beginning with a guided meditative practice to bring forth creativity and inspiration, Katie will show participants how to bring feelings of relaxation and meditation into their watercolor works. The relaxation will continue after the hour of thoughtful meditation with a soothing glass of wine. Katie will use this time to answer questions, and participants will continue experiencing and experimenting with the watercolor medium. 

Inspirational Journey with Watercolor

Date: Saturday, June 22

Time: 10am - 12pm

Where: FLOW Gallery + Workshop

Price: $75

Enjoy the soothing nature surrounding Wilson Village as Katie White leads a morning walk. While on the brief (10 – 15 min.) walk, participants will keep an eye out for any nature that they find eye-catching, take a photo, and return to the gallery. They will use this picture for inspiration (color, composition, etc.) to create a watercolor that reflects the beauty they found. Participants are encouraged to bring a phone to take inspiration photos.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Katie White’s art is heavily inspired by nature. Drawn to the horizon line, Katie brings focus to the space where land or water meet the sky, a quiet pause at the end of the day as the sun sets, a deep exhale or a place to root yourself to the earth. Many of her pieces are of soft, serene atmospheres that evoke a peaceful emotion, while others pull you in with bold colors, telling their own story. She infuses meditative practices with her watercolor process, teaching others how to use the medium as a tool to ease anxiety. A long-time friend of Palmetto Bluff, Katie is excited to come back and visit with the many friends she has made over the years.
